Ive had this pattern for years, and wanted to make it again, but Red Heart has discontinued almost all the colors called for in the materials list. I did a LONG search, for alternatives (US, but some may ship internationally) and this is what I found (just go to the sites and look up the particular yarns). The individual yarns may also be available at other sties, too.
Cotton Classic Lite: tahkistacycharles.com ($7.65/hank), yarn.com, fiberwild.com and myknitch.com ($6.95/hank), fabric.com ($6.48/hank), patternworks.com ($7.00/hank)
deepest red (ranch red), white, bright red (cherry red), almond (tan), celadon (tea leaf), bittersweet chocolate (chocolate), linen white (vanilla), pale lemon yellow (buttercup), cotton candy (think pink)
Patons Astra: patonsyarns.com
medium tan (tan), white, baby pink (think pink), cardinal (ranch red and cherry red), maize yellow (buttercup), blue aqua or hot green (tea leaf), dark tan (chocolate), aran (vanilla)
CotLin: knitpicks.com
celery (tea leaf), coffee or cashew (chocolate), flamingo (think pink), linen (tan), swan (white), creme brulee (buttercup), moroccan red (ranch red and cherry red), no alternative for vanilla (use swan/white)
Shine Sport: knitpicks.com
serrano (ranch red and cherry red), white, blush (think pink), willow (tan), green apple or citrine (tea leaf), mongoose (chocolate), dandelion (buttercup), cream (vanilla)
Comfy Sport: knitpicks.com
ivory (vanilla), flamingo (think pink), honeydew (tea leaf), creme brulee or parchment (tan), white, pomegranate (ranch red and cherry red, or peony/ fairy tale for cherry red), bison (chocolate)
Out of all them, Cotton Classic Lite translates the best as far as exact match in colors, feel and look, but at almost $90.00 to make this, its too expensive to consider, IMO. Of the rest ($2.99-$3.99/ball) Shine Sport, Patons Astra and Comfy Sport appear to have the best color alternatives. CotLin only needs one color substitution (white for vanilla) and I think this one would probably be my choice.
If anyone else has additional alternatives, Im sure others would appreciate the info. :) |
