Never without my Mark 2 Floor Stand :lol
I use this stand for all my big projects like Golden Kite, DOME or HAED.
But for smaller patterns I also use wooden hoops.

I also use Q-Snap. Putting it in the stand as  you have here doesn't it loosen the top clamp and then the fabric? I love my snap because it keeps the fabric so tite and the stitches turn out so neat and uniform.

I use floor and lap stands, but my floor is my favourite. I bought mine from a charity shop years ago and it has been a god send. Can clip rings to it or hook on large frames. I have seen quite a few on ebay of late and they are just not selling. So have a look. You may get yourself an absolute bargain especially if its selling in your area and they want you to pick it up rather than posting. Hope you get one soon.

I use a Lowery floor stand, and my Q-snaps work perfect in it.  Big advantage of the Lowery is the small size, it doesn't overwhelm the room its in, but is still sturdy enough to hold my projects.  If I used scroll rods and had anything longer than 14 inch rods, then I'd worry about it becoming top heavy.
