I have a china closet that was my moms. I have not been able to "get rid of" it for 40 years now and, yes, it is in my dining room. It is not that I want to keep it, but I dont seem to be able to bear parting with it. Daughter says I should take a piece of it, and turn it into something else (even if it is using just 1 drawer) and let it go. I am not this creative.
