Madam Sew pens

Hi, I have been looking for an erasable pen that I can use on black aida cloth. I was just reading about Madam Sew heat erasable pens.  The reviews that I read from sewers are all very positive.  Aida cloth is a little harder to "write" on though so I was wondering if any of the cross stitchers on the forum have tried these pens.  Any other suggestions for a pen that will work on dark fabric?

Sallysue, i bought a couple on ali express, they have worked fine for me, both on dark and light fabric. Not only were they inexpensive, but excellent as well.

Thanks so much! I have been using Pilot Frixion pens and they work great.  However they dont make a color that shows up on dark fabric.  Im going to order some of the Madam Sew pens now that Ive gotten your feedback.  Appreciate you taking the time to share this information.

I used Pilot Frixion,But for dark color I  have used a hand soap pill. When it is finishing and this fine is the best for dark fabrics.

For cheaper/homemade alternative as Yusi26 mentioned, you can use bar of soap (I suspect that was the "soap pill" referred to) on dark fabrics (not only canvas). It will wash off and doesnt stain. Only downside is you might not like smelling it all the time while working and it rubs off during handling the fabric.

I heard that "an erasable pen for black cloth" can manifest in the sun, when you washing and ironing work .. and quickly comes to an end (dry up).
Soap use (as Yusi26 mentioned) or marking by usual thread for sewing - is a good alternative. You may marking small fragment, that is embroider at this moment.

I so usually do.


For light fabrics, "an erasable pen" is a good choice.

Thank you very much for your very detailed answer and posting all the photos!  It was very kind of you to take the time to do that.  I had forgotten about chalk for marking too so thanks for the reminder on that!
