    it doesnt require better stitching skills for higher count material, just good eyesight :) or in my case a magnifying glass as well as my glasses, :lolhigher count material does give a finer finish

I prefer patterns with solid colors only, therefore I mostly stitch with one strand of floss on 28ct cotton/evenweave; these are nearly 11 stitches/cm, and the finished pattern is not too big then.

a little bit maths:

28ct = 28 stitches per 2,54cm (=1 inch)
            X  stitches per 1 cm
X ---> 28 stitches x 1cm / 2,54cm = 11,02 stitches (per cm) :P :lol

an inch is 2,54 cm, and as urmel wrote - it´s easy to convert =)

stitching skills are the same on higher counts, you must have good eyes to see the holes =)

If you are used to inches:
14 ct aida = 14 stitches per inch
14 ct aida = 28 ct evenweave (if stitched over two threads)

16 ct aida = 16 stitches per inch
16 ct aida = 32 ct evenweave (if stitched over two threads)

18 ct aida = 18 stitches per inch
18 ct aida = 36 ct evenweave (if stitched over two threads)

If youre used to centimetres:

14 ct aida = 5,5 stitches per cm

16 ct aida = 6,2 stitches per cm

18 ct aida = 7 stitches per cm
