Hello! I am from London in the UK. I have a friend who is from Lithuania, and I would like to visit there one day. The photos of forests and architecture she shows me look beautiful. She once gave me chocolate in the shape of Lithuania which I decided to keep instead of eating.

Hi, Puppy, thank you for the gifts. :)

Hi, Ceilithe, I have friend in UK nd I can say youre from a very beautiful country yourself. :} One item on my bucket list is to hike through Scotland. Have you seen  a Jacob Laukautis video about Lithuania? I wanted to add it to my originl posts, but I cannot dd urls yet. But you can find it on youtube by the name "What is LITHUANIA? (My Country You Know Nothing About)" author Jacob Laukaitis. In my opinion its the best introductory Ive ever seen.

Hi, greenteas, I read the thread you linked, but theres nothing about security. :/

Hi Wakara,

I just watched the video you recommended. We never really covered European history outside of the UK and the world wars, so there was a lot of surprising facts I did not know. I would love to walk among the forest at the beginning of the video.

Funny enough, hiking through Scotland is also on my bucket list! You can rent cabins on the banks of some lesser known lochs, which I think would be more fun than a hotel. Just watch out for the capercaillie! They are bird native to Scotland, and very feisty. Look up the video The Capercaillie bird defends its territory - David Attenborough - BBC wildlife to see what I mean. If you ever come to the UK, other beautiful places I can recommend are the Lake district, Snowdonia, South Downs and the moors of Devon.

Glad there was something new for you. :)

Wow, the bird really seems mad. :D We do have those in Lithuania, but theyre are endangered species and protected. Ive never met one in my life. And now Im glad I didnt. :D

Thank you for recommendations! Ive heard of first two (because one of my friend visited both places this summer), but havent heard of South Downs or moors of Devon. Though moors of Devon sound like something out of Jane Austen novel, or something Ive read in childhood from Frances Hodgson Burnett.

They are notoriously feisty, especially at breeding time. Sadly they are endangered here too. I would like to observe them in the wild, though preferably from the safety of a bird watching station.

I think Jane Austen is the Yorkshire moors, definitely another place I would recommend. The moors of Devon include Exmoor and the infamous Dartmoor. Lots of lovely Seaside towns in Devon and Cornwall too.
