Yarn weight Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi)
Gauge 20.5 stitches and 38 rows = 4 inches in Stocking stitch on smaller needles
Needle size US 4 - 3.5 mm/ US 6 - 4.0 mm
This easy shawl is idea for those who have never made a shawl before, or those who are experienced knitters but have a highly coloured yarn that requires a simple pattern to show it off best. It would be beautiful in handspun, too. It is worked from the top down, and cast off along the long edge.
The larger needle size is just to open up the lace edging - it isn’t absolutely necessary. Gauge is also not crucial, however using a larger or smaller needle will affect the size of your shawl.
