just concentrate in the 2 needles involved in knitting at each moment, let the rest of the needles hang of your work and ignore them. After a while it becomes second nature and feels just like normal knitting.
Look at youtube videos on DPNS or double pointed needles.

Congrats. It is always good to add new and useful skills.  If you have a problem keeping the stitches on the needles, use end stoppers, or rubber bands twisted around and around.  Like anything, practice will make perfect.

Hi :) I sometimes knit the leg of socks with 4 needles if the pattern can be more easily divided on 3+1 instead of 4+1 needle. The first 1 or 2 rounds might be a little bit fiddely, but this is always the case for knitting in the round with dpn. If you feel very uncomfortable with the 3+1 needle, you can always change to a circular needle, knitting with magic loop and placing a marker after the stitches the pattern counts for one needle. (e.g. if you have 30 stitches and you should have 10 stitches per needle, place a marker on the circ after 10 stitches each.)
