How much do I get for the pattern I uploaded?

Could someone explain how it works please?
My numbers don’t add up.
Let’s say a pattern I uploaded Costs 100 gold coins, and I receive 70 coins each time someone purchases it.  If it says it’s been downloaded 100 times, I should have 7000 from it.
Is that how it works?

That is how it would work if 100 different people downloaded the pattern.

However: sometimes downloads fail, so the same person will download again - perhaps even several times. Or someone downloads the pattern more than once for other reasons. You will not receive additional coins for downloads done by the same person.
