Personally I prefer knitting in the round, I hate purling!
What is your reason to want to change a pattern to flat?
Are you trying to make a cardi using a sweater pattern? Im curious!
Have you looked at steeking? You knit on the round and then cut it open.
It is scary but so kick ass! :) Go to youtube and look for videos!
I went to look at steeking and that was just terrifying, I would like to think that I am almost an advanced beginner but theres no way I would habe the confidence to even try.
