What is the best size for a baby blanket ?

I would love to crochet a baby blanket but im worried that i make it too big or too small , if anyone ever made a blanket pls tell me the sizes in inch .

I tend to like them on the smaller side. Big enough to cover the baby, but small enough that when the baby wants to carry it around, it can.  So, I like about 24 inches by 30 inches.  These become a keepsake for the baby more than something larger.
