Yarn suggestion for making knitted doll

hello, does anyone know what cotton yarn should i be using to make knitted doll like this? it is for babies and toddler.

I would use sock yarn. Many, many colours but the dolls might get smaller than stated in the pattern. But I think the bunny would be lovely in sock yarn.

You can get lots of colours in 4ply cotton but using acrylic will be cheaper
