So we are all likely in some form of lockdown.  I have been working the full work day and been quite busy.  During "lunch" I sit and chat with my husband, have a bite to eat, then go back to my virtual work.  Im on "lunch" right now.  We had thought of taking a walk around town yesterday and when we opened  our front door, there was a family doing just that. No one wearing masks.  We looked at each other and waited for them to pass by our home.  We wondered out loud if it was safe to walk where they just did now that it is stated that the virus can be spread from breath and by talking.  They were breathing, they were talking.  We decided we didnt want to go out walking, so we went into the yard and walked around a bit before sitting.  Hoping you all are well, and that youre being careful.  Mabye a few more weeks and we can get the worst of this behind us.  Peace to all.  Remember if you have an idle car, start it up now and again or youll get a dead battery.

I know how you feel.  I do however have masks that I have picked up in waiting rooms over the last year or so.    So I have 3 for us 4.
I can make masks and have put that on my list for tomorrow.

At what temperature does it die?  How long does it stay in the air and at what temperature.
None of that has been explained.  I live in a cold climate.  One would think it wont survive here outside; but who knows if it will go dormant in the cold.

I think heat kills the virus, many people told me that, they suggest people to drink more warm water as it can kill the virus, dont know whether this is true or not  Post time 2020-4-7 09:37
Good question. It lives in the cold and lives in heat. Both climates have the virus. The "experts" dont know. We learn more every day. A painter left 5 masks at my daughters house; we got 2.   Post time 2020-4-7 06:22

@CraftyLouAnna, when the virus first took off in China it looked pretty cold and in some photos it looked like there was snow on the ground. So it would seem it can survive cold. But with summer approaching maybe the heat will cook it off. Thats if its similar in nature to the flu which seems to die off in the heat of the sun filled days. Heres hoping. We have no masks here and Im not skilled at all at sewing so Im stuck in doing extreme social distancing.

If you have bandanas, you can tie across the face. Might make you look like a bandit :) - but could be life saving. Any triangle shape fabric can tie like a bandana. Stay safe.  Post time 2020-4-7 22:10

Yes, in my place its not officially in lockdown yet, but schools are closed, shopping centers are empty, many factories are temporarily closed. Im feeling so bad about the labor thats unemployed right now, I dont know how will they feed themselves and their families. This virus spreads too fast and its way too smart, it evolves and adapts in many situations. Stay safe and take care

I am in the southern US (atlanta) and we were hit pretty hard. And they say the worst is still to come. I have a severely disabled son (age 22) and hes extremely susceptible to illness. So it has been very important that we isolate since this first hit our country. Thank goodness for Pindiy and a healthy stash! I have been able to keep occupied and we all know how therapeutic it is to stitch. I hope all of you are able to stay safe and healthy during this time.

I feel for you. Keep your family safe. We are in NJ, literally a 10 minute train ride into NY. Very scary here.  Post time 2020-4-7 22:13

Hello DMCrafter. I am on my 4th week of virtual working and on the 2nd of full lockdown. I have a dog and only go out to the front lawn so she can have her washroom breaks. I go out with full gear, mask, gloves and take care that no one is out on the street before I leave. I know your pain and I see people acting as if it nothing but the common flu. They go for walks, runs, play outside with their children and going on like before. I just wish everyone would stay home and stay safe so that this could pass more quickly. Thank you for the car battery tip. I had not thought of that.

Not an expert but I imagine the virus would survive in temperatures that mammals survive in, seeing as it uses mammals as its hosts. The virus also probably thrives in cooler weather because of the lower relative humidity, like other flu and cold viruses.

Stay safe!

Another reminder - I wear earrings for work; didnt have them in my pierced ears for this time until the other day; holes were sore even though pierced for years.  Post time 2020-4-10 01:13
