Good for you.  It makes you happy now.  When I was young, I went to summer camp (with Salvation Army - we were poor).  When I was 9 or 10 I went for 2 sessions, 8 days apiece, 16 days total.  While I was gone, at the Salvation Army Boys Club, now politically correct and called the Boys and Girls Club, the girls learned to crochet and made vests (this was 1970) and everyone was wearing them.  I wanted one, I wanted to learn, but was told that craft was done and they moved on to something else. What?  I dont remember.  I learned to crochet when I was 16.  I made granny squares pretty much that was it.  Wasnt until some time later when I learned to read patterns and broaden my skill set.  Anyhow, the point of this story is, I made myself that vest when I was 40.  Pom pom ties and all. And, I wear it still.  Not a lot, but at least 3 times per winter.  It is really quite an unstylish thing, but that is okay, it looks how it is meant to look, and it healed my little girl heart.  You are never too old to have a happy childhood.  Im glad you made the wand for yourself.
