Thank you everyone for all the tips. Currently trying to use DMC Light effects & as others have mentioned its horrible. Im going to get some thread magic & try some of your tips.

For me, Rainbow Gallery petite treasure braid is the easiest to use. I think its more controllable but also the stitches seem to lay flatter and look more uniform than with other threads. I have tried the AVAS metallics and theyre just as nice as the Rainbow Gallery but the color selection is much less than Rainbow Gallery.
