This is an experiment with cross stitch mixed with diamond painting stones.
I hope youll like the idea.
:D May it inspire us to get out those leftover stones from the back of our cupboards!
Here is what I learned so far:
- The dp-stones are 2 millimetres in diameter / 2 mm. square.
- For mixing cross stitch with dp-stones you must use fabric with 10 or 11 threads per centimeter.
- Use square dp-stones for full coverage = equal to cross stitches.
- Round dp-stones do not fully cover but are very nice to embellish something e.g. a red clowns nose.
- If the covering of a stone is not sufficient enough: stipple some colour in on the blank area with a same colour felt pen.
- Do not wash the finished piece but soak it in a fair amount of water with mild soap, then rinse and dry flat.
The red stones on the photo are the only round ones.
The purple tape is painters tape = masking tape.
Its the sensitive type, to be sure it leaves no glue residue on the fabric.
I use it on all my big & small pieces of fabric to mark it with the thread count.
Love to hear from your experiences!!!
