The 2nd design Mies Bloch made on the subject of the Zaanse Schans in 1980 after the huge succes of the first one.
This little street is called Zeilenmakerspad * whereas the first design in 1978 depicted the Kalverringdijk **.
Both patterns where done to promote the city Zaanstad (The Netherlands).
Zaanstad needed promoting at that time as it was a new city name given to a cluster of smaller cities in the province of Noord-Holland.
The river de Zaan is flowing through that area.

Fun fact:
In that time outline stitches where not yet used in cross stitch designs in The Netherlands.
The design is fully drawn by hand on graph paper.

Extra freebie:
The lettering was designed in 1978 by another designer from the area. Originally for the first Zaanse Schans in a style common to the area.
It is advised to stitch De Zaanse Schans" below the design in DMC colour 890 or 909.

*   = Sail-Making-Path (sails from boats)
** = Crescent(shaped)-Dike-Of-Calves
