Here is some help: dpsoftware.com/xspro/photo.htm
:) Some things to consider perhaps:
If converting photos into pixellated dmc/anchor-number dots (as that is what one is actually doing) we must take in consideration that one has to do a lot of work after the conversion. Like removing confetti = pixels the program sees as one colour but actually needs to be another colour. DP Software calls it despeckling. (But whats in a name?)
And the more stitches & colours in your work, the better the stitched photo will turn out.
My personal experience: its utterly expensive (loads of stranded cotton floss needed) to do a photo! (Especially with peoples faces in it)
And its painstaking to embroider.
And it takes quite some time.
And it often becomes a UFO ;P cleverly hidden behind an old sofa or in the back of a cupboard.
Maybe for that kind of money its better to choose a way to professionally print that photo onto canvas - or more beautiful- on aluminium.
The skilled people from Scarletquince.com convert a lot of paintings/photos.
Reading the articles on their website might give some insight on these matters.
So now I just buy their charts after many times of :( on photos.
This way Im saving myself a UFO and lots of frustration even though Im a quite skilled Pattern Maker user (if I my say so myself :$)
Good luck!!!
