It is strictly not allowed, and we correct them as soon as possible. There are multiple guides and tutorials that give a detailed, step by step breakdown on how to make a new thread, so in theory this shouldnt happen at all. But these paid threads are mostly from new users, or newly uploading users, who fail to read any of the guides we provide... There are "repeat offenders" who got multiple messages with links and even visuals on how to properly make a new thread, but either they dont read it at all, or they immediately forget the whole thing.
Unfortunately we cant monitor everything 24/7 (moderating is a thing we dont get monetary compensation for, its not our day job, not even a part time job, were doing it in our free time), so it happens sometimes that these threads stay the way the uploader set it for hours.
Honestly, and Ill say this part not as a mod, but as an active user, I have no idea why do some people mess around with the advanced settings. Like you actively have to look for the option to make your thread pay for view, and then, they had an option to ask for gold when they uploaded the attachments... At least, the thread price option is removable. If someone sets a reply award, then it stays there forever... Some people lost a lot of coins this way, but then they learned how not to post.
I know it is bothersome, and not that too exciting, but if you take the tick from the box that says "image mode", then youll be able to see if someone charges for viewing a thread, or if theres a reader permission level set. Its better to approach the unmoderated threads with caution. |
