Thanks @BoingBoing (for all your answers). Do downloads of your posted patterns show up?
I read s ...
There is a download counter next to the attachments name in your thread, but its not the same number as the purchases, youre right. The counter is counting the queries sent, which can be up to 5 in certain cases (using proxies, VPNs, or download manager apps are the usual culprit) for a single download. The actual purchases show up in your log, and you immediately get the points without delay. This function thankfully works well, without a fail.
And yes, there is a limit for attachment prices, which is different for different DIY levels. This thread has a useful chart for it. Free patterns can be sold for a maximum of 10GC, regardless of your user level. Theres one more catch. This is a limit for a single pattern/publication, not per attachment.
What is a single pattern/publication:
- a pattern which you can follow from the beginning to end, getting a finished object at the end (one file)
- a pattern posted in multiple pieces by the designer(such as Crochet Along patterns) - by doing the pieces individually you wont get a finished object (multiple files)
- a pattern that is uploaded here in multiple parts, because of the file size restrictions part1.rar, part2.rar, etc) (multiple files)
- separate patterns in a series, with a continuous page numbering (for example first pattern finishes at page 14, the next pattern starts at page 15)
What is not a single pattern:
- translations of the same pattern - some designers release their patterns in more languages. Each of them is a single pattern, but these can be posted in a single thread (multiple files)
- patterns in a series that are released separately, do not depend on each other (you dont have to complete the first pattern to be able to complete the second) and do not have consecutive page numbering (multiple files)
- different versions of the same pattern, which were released in separate parts by the designer, and they are completely workable by themselves (for example a doll with different outfits) (multiple files)
In the first cases, the limit is 50/thread on DIY0, the latter cases 50/pattern on DIY0.
Edit: "single" as in one single unit. Patterns, taken from magazines or books, sometimes are referred to as "single patterns", and they are heavily restricted (theyre against the rules most times).
