The bedside runner design was inspired by the Scandi Landscape of mountains and trees. It’s a small project which can easily be made from scrap yarn. ANY yarn can be used for this project. I used Scheepjes Catona with a 3mm hook and it is 19 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (50 x 12cm). If you use other yarn, bear in mind that the size will differ. I made my bedside runner to replace coasters and to just look pretty too!
For the design to stand out, it’s best to use contrasting yarns. For instance, light and dark colours.
It is a written pattern with charts in the Overlay Mosiac method. Pattern is written in US terminology. It’s an easy method which is described in detail in the pattern and there are several utube videos available that show how to do it (not my videos). It uses basic SC and DC stitches and is worked from the right side only. The SCs are worked in the back loop and the DCs are worked in the front loop 2 rows below. Yarn is cut at the end of each row.
The pattern can be easily adapted for larger projects like a table runner or even a blanket.
