In the icon My center go to tasks and click on them to claim rewards. When you share patterns or replying to other threads you gain coins too.

You can visit someone elses space: visit + other + space = gold coin +1
You might find a red envelope in some pages with gold coins as well

Click on any user name to go to their space and do click on the Red Envelope in the upper right corner.
You get x Gold Coins once as a gift.
