when you guys say 50cm is that 0ne strand folded or two strands at 50cm

I used to use long threads but found when working with wool on canvas that is a big mistake, I dont mind tying off so much now.

hmm, i never thought to measure how long but i guess i ususally just grab an arms length and snip it from tip of my shoulder bone down to my middle finger?

I usually use my arm to measure how much thread. From the tip of my middle finger to my elbow. :)

I prefer longer strands so I have less stopping and starting, but if its metallic or something that knots or frays easily, I will go to a shorter length.

Oooh, interesting question!

I just pull the end of a (cotton) skein twice, if that makes sense? Turns out thats 60cm.

I like the neatness of cutting the skein at the end, and 30cm seems too short to me.

Im fascinated to hear so many people use shorter lengths!
