of a piece of needlework.   My MIL from the Netherlands gave me a piece that is not complete.  No instructions, just the bell pull and hardware.
Can anyone help?  Am assuming it is an antique.   She started the bottom; I am starting at the top.

No instructions came with these things; the instructions where the upbringing you had from all the women in your family :lol
The options are this:
1. Usually cross stitches 2x2 threads. (never 1x2 or 2x1)
2. And if you dared you could stitch it in tentstitch / pétit point which gives you much more detail but takes up more thread.

This must be from the 70s - 80s as it is specifically fine linen AND colour printed. An unusual combination, but from that time.
So its a bell pull with a (fox) hunting theme.
That also fits in with the 70-80s. (Like @Puppy already mentioned compare: Permin / Eva Rosenstand / Clara Weaver in that time frame.)

Sadly for you these cross stitch kits came out before internet and scanning in the 90s.
So my advise is: dont put much time in searching for this on the internet, use your time to stitch :D

These kind of kits came without much instruction ON PURPOSE to give room for own creativity and style.
Its my personal opinion that in our time we are too much forced by instruction leaflets to make up a kit; it narrows our own creativity.... I liked the old days better.

A kit with instructions (for example, Dimension, Anchor) provides excellent results. But embroidery using the pattern from the kit on your fabric and your threads bring you back to the old days.  Post time 2022-1-5 04:57

Am doing this as 2 over one....... the previous is 2 over 2 and the detail is lost.  Im not sure they would say this is needlepoint, more like petit point.
