This is NOT FOR crocheted / knitted dolls BUT FOR vinyl / plastic dolls:
If you mention a pattern for clothes dolls would you please also write the lenght of the doll down?
The measurement for dolls clothes depend on the total length of the doll.
If you know the length of a doll, you know if a pattern is good for the project you want to make.
Bonus:
Did you know that a Barbie doll (from the Mattel company and many other companies) are scale 1:6?
So 1 inch for a human is 1/6 inch for a Fashion doll.
For example if you want to give your Barbie ear jewellery, you give her a bead of 2 millimetres in diametre on her ears.
If you’re making patterns, keep your stitches tight for durability but remember not to make the garments too stiff—vinyl dolls appreciate a bit of stretch, just like us! And don’t be shy about adding fun accessories, like tiny scarves or hats—the grandkids love those little touches.
As good intended as this might be, it doesnt apply to all kind of non knitted/crochet dolls.
And I am not even talking about BJDs (ball-jointed dolls, generally resin) which is a whole different discussion.
Yes, the base scale will give an IDEA of fitting, but it is still NECESSARY to know which model the clothing is based on.
Barbies are 1:6, sure, but a clothing that will fit the "Tall" model of the Fashionistas will NOT fit a "Curvy", generally speaking.
Monster High are 1:6, but their clothes will NOT fit Barbies and even the clothing that fit a certain MH doll will NOT fit the other. Specially true with old versus new releases.
Even same bodies still migh have differences that will clash with fitting. Obitsu 27 and Pure Neemo Flection Full Action M have variants on breast sizes, so shirts and coats that fit the smaller breast sizes will not go well with their max sizes.
Head shapes vary a lot too, more wildly than bodies.
Ideally you need as most information as possible to know if the project will go well with your doll, or at minimum you should know the basics of changing the patterns to get the correct fit.
