Lately I was watching a mend-old-stuff programme on tv.
Two ladies who repaired bears and dolls mentioned Rexine.
It is the brand name for artificial / faux leather. (Now also known among us as pleather)
Later it got used for home made leather too.
This is what they explained:
You take transparent drying: woodglue / school glue / elmers glue / PVA glue and mix it with acrylic paint to give it the color you want.
Then you paint this mixture on textile and let it dry.
You can use it for:
- Eyes on dolls (first white layer and do the rest fine drawing with a felt marker for example)
- Color under the feet of a bear of give a pink sole to a white bunny
- Stiffening felt shoe soles
Do not use more paint than white glue.
Anyone of you worked this mix before???? Please share your experiences!
I dont work with paint at all, ah well, to be honest, just only for my house walls now and then ;)
--but sounds quite a very good idea to give it a try.
Thanks, Katherina!
