This simple lace sweater can be knit as a pullover or cardigan, in chest sizes 32”-60”. The lace pattern, with a gentle undulation that makes wonderful use of striped or gradation yarns, is reminiscent of the traditional quilting pattern “Flying Geese”.
The sweater has a close fit to allow the lace to shine, but can easily be worn with a layer underneath. The lace pattern is the same all over the sweater, with vertical lines created by double decreases to enhance the visual effect. The sweater is knit in the round as a top-down raglan to the base of the armholes where sleeve stitches are put on hold and lace continued to ribbed hem. Then the sleeve stitches are picked up from scrap yarn holders and worked in lace pattern in the round to ribbed cuff, with decreases fully charted out. You can choose pullover or cardigan style (with zipper closure).
Skill level: Intermediate. Ability to follow lace charts essential. Previous experience with top-down raglan sweaters helpful.
Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

The lace lends itself really well to long-repeat color-changing yarn, but hand-dyed or a multitude of stripes would be fun also.
