Celtic Dreams - Beth Brown-Reinsel - Black Water Abbey Yarns

This garment is knitted in Aran-weight yarn from the top down and features saddle shoulders and square armholes, Aran motifs, and a deep skirt, as the traditional Aran ribbing is called.


The cuffs fit loosely in keeping with the early Arans.

Pattern addresses longer length, saddle shoulders and avoiding cable splay.

This is the original 1996 Beth Brown-Reinsel pattern pamphlet (later published in Interweave in the fall of 1997 with muliple errors) and contains no errata.



This is a terrific Aran project because it salutes the traditional aran construction and the patterns has meticulous, clear, well-written and error-free instructions.

Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Needle Size: US 7  - 4.5 mm
Yardage: 1200 - 1750 yards (1097 - 1600 m)

Sizes: 36 (40, 46, 52)” (91.5 (101.5, 117, 132) cm) bust/chest circumference
