Designer Rules ?

In many instructions I have read

These knitting instructions are for private use only.
Reproduction, sale or commercial use is prohibited. For any commercial
my permission is required for any commercial use of the finished product.
I bought the wool and the instructions and knitted it myself, it is my working time, and my property,
I also know a wool shop where the owner knits jumpers to order, which can be purchased
how can a designer forbid me to sell my knitted scarf? Is the finished scarf also subject to copyright?

She cant - all smoke and mirrors. You cannot claim the pattern as your own but you most certainly can sell them if you make them - again providing you do not claim to be the designer.
PS - you cannot sell the pattern or give it to someone even though you paid for it - you would be depriving the designer of monies she makes for selling her designs. I dont know where these designers get off trying to strong arm people - her copyright does not pertain to your finished product.

I think designers are more concerned with the pattern being used as a mass produced product.  Producing the product in a factory.

I do know that Mirabilia wants you to buy the pattern every time you stitch that particular piece even though
you already own the pattern.   

Ultimately  its up to you to decide.

I knit hats for homeless people and nothing will stop me from giving them away,
I dont sell them. So its all a hoax?

Unfortunately, it is not quite that simple. Copyright law varies from country to country.
Germany, for example, has a very strict law, which, thanks to a large number of lawyers, also takes action quickly.

Knitting for charitable purposes or, as in your case, for the homeless, remains exempt.
Here, no profit is made from the sale of the knitted pieces.

By the way, it is enough to change the instructions a bit - different stitch pattern, different decrease/increase. Especially with hats and scarfs you can not reinvent the wheel.

Yes, you are right, different countries, different laws. Im in the US and although they all try this - the finished item is not subject to copyright laws - only the pattern itself and as mentioned if you change a few things you may be able to get away with calling it your own design.

Depende del país, aunque generalmente no debería ser un problema. Por otro lado siempre puedes cambiar cosas, como los tonos de color, algunas puntadas o como colocas laa piezas. Estos cambios tambien deben ser suficientes.

Piensa en esto como los covers, nadie demanadara a una banda que haga covers a no ser que reclame la canción como propia y no como una reinterpretación.
