Gauge: For the body: a 3” x 3” square of sc stitches = 13 rows of
10 sc (13 rows = 3” ,10 sc across = 3”)
For the trim:a 3” x 3” square of hdc stitches =7 rows of 10 hdc (7
rows = 3” , 10 hdc across = 3”)

Materials:
6mm hook
Needle for sewing/weaving in ends
Yarn:I used lion brand pound of love ,2 skeins of gray,1 skein of
black. This project takes almost 3000 yds of yarn. If you are doing
the trim work the same color as the body it will take 2500 for the
main color and 500 for the secondary color. If you are doing the
trim work in the secondary color as I did it will take 2000 yds for
the main color and 1000 yds for the secondary color.
*Finished size 34” X 72”
*This pattern has instructions to be made with or without a hood.
Abbreviations:
Chain ch
Slip Stitch slst
Single Crochet sc
Main color mc
Secondary color sec
Front post treble fptr
Front post double treble fpdtr
Front post stitches fpsts
Half double crochet hdc
***Working on the cable for the trim calls for the use of front post
treble and front post double treble stitches.Within the pattern, we
will need to crochet around front post treble and double treble
stitches,I refer to the front post treble and double treble stitches
we will be working into as front post stitches(fpsts).
***Working on the main body and the trim,it is very important to
mark your right side. You always want to keep your working yarn
to the back of your project. I have posted videos on my blog to
demonstrate this.On my blog, titled “Warmness Managed” pocket
shawl, you will also find videos demonstrating color changing for
the lettering on the body, and videos for working the cable stitches.
You can find my blog at simplymeholly.com
***There will not be a graph provided for this pattern.I took it upon
myself to take all the headache out of having to use a graph, and
wrote it all out so it would be more user friendly for everyone.
***Rather than keep carrying the yarn while working the lettering
on the body of the shawl, I made several smaller balls of the
secondary color, and worked each section of the lettering with the
smaller balls.
***When I made the shawl pictured, I changed color on the
cabling/cable stitches. I do not indicate ,within the pattern,to do
this.It can be difficult if you aren’t experienced with the color
change technique used. However if you are feeling adventurous or
have the experience and patience for it,go for it.The color
changing video on my blog that shows color changes for the
lettering is the same technique I used to change color on the
cable stitches.Again, you can find my blog at simplymeholly.com
***There are 2 files to download for this pattern, one is the typed
pattern, the other is the photos.I don’t normally do it this way,but
there was so much to type ,the file just became to lar
