You can upload patterns and pictures of your own work.
Do your tasks every hour.
Give a comment on other members work and patterns.
Look in the bounty section maybe you have a pattern or magazine other members are looking for.

How do I do tasks? That I havent found those yet, but Im intrigued. :o

Up in the top left corner of the screen is a button on the end of the blue stripe. Hover over it and it opens several more buttons to choose from. One is for the tasks. You can do them every hour. If you are a beginner, the level one is the one to click and the other is labeled for "everybody". They give you points to increase your level of participation.
