how do you get them i only have 5 at the moment

You get credits by being active on the site --> Post threads, upload patterns, show us your work in diary threads, reply in other member threads, spend time being active on the site.

The formula for credits is:

Posts x 0.1 + Threads x 0.26 + digests x 5 + Online time (hours) / 1.5 = Credits

In doing these things you will also earn gold coins to use on the site, which is why you will see this formula all over the site with "+Money" in it. The money is not really part of the credit calculation though.

So, for every 4 Threads you upload on the site, you get 1 credit.
For every 10 replies, you get 1 credit.
For every 1.5 hours you are active on the site you get 1 credit.
