The sweater belongs to this young woman. She is wearing it on her way to class, riding a bike through the streets of Paris. A year abroad to learn from the great French couturier, to visit museums and to find her voice. The exciting and lonely life of a British expat in post-war France. She wears the sweater underneath her tweed jacket because she can never get rid of the cold. She knows her knitwear is frowned upon but French housing is inadequately ready for the harsh crisp mornings of October. Her sweater, patched and mended for years is her only shield. It still smells of home, in Norfolk, so far removed from the most sophisticated of cities, so out of place in Paris. This sweater is a nostalgic ode to traditional vintage Fair Isle knitwear. Este es el jersey de una vida imaginaria, una oda nostálgica a las prendas de punto tradicionales de Fair Isle. Se teje de arriba hacia abajo sin costuras.
