If you havent tried knitting anything yet, I would start with the ubiquitous scarf to learn the very basics of cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and cast off. Once you have that figured out, really you can knit anything. If you look at a pattern and think its too hard, its not. Knitting is really just variations of the knit and purl stitches. After my first scarf, my next project was a sweater which I still wear over 30 years latter. If you have someone (or youtube) to get you over the humps youll do great. There are a lot of beginner patterns out there for you to choose from. Just throw a dart and start. Or, pick something that you like to wear like socks, mitts, or vest. Thats my best advice. "Knitting good" just comes with practice like anything else. |
