If you look at her website, she is just selling her patterns only, not even kits with yarns. I was quite suprised that she had yarn substitutions in the information for each pattern. Not many designers do that. One thing that you can do for any pattern on Rav, is look look at the Yarn Ideas tab for the pattern that you are looking at. If its really popular you will find oodles of yarn that various people have used to knit up the pattern. This would help if you need a substitution for any pattern. I have known some friends to spend $$$$ on yarn if the pattern/yarn/time warrant the item. Its a personal choice. The high prices most often come with custom yarn custom dyed, which means a lot of effort went into creating it. And yes like any craft you can find really expensive tools or really cheap tools. Ive learned to look for substitues, and shop around when looking for any craft item I need/want. |
