Displaying replies in long threads in order

I havent been able to figure this out and I dont know if its possible or not but I thought Id ask to see if anyone knows how to do this.
When displaying a long thread that has multiple pages of replies, after the initial the first post, the replies are "recommended" replies and not the first replies to the post.  Is there a way to stop the "recommended" posts from showing?  I want to read the replies as they were posted.  I dont want to read the same post over again when Im going through the pages.  Im hoping there is a setting or button somewhere that Ive missed.
