Normaly, once you downloaded a pattern, it is free for the next time.
You just click on the download ...

I just tried it with the "Ciao Bella by Sari Nordlund" pattern, which Im confident I downloaded only once in the past, and paid the full 300 gold coin price.
There seems to be something off.

Or you downloaded before but system ask "again" download cost from you?
