Well... thats happened to me a couple of times. Last time today.
I was trying to crochet a tiger following a free tutorial from youtube (I actually wanted to make a saber-tooth tiger, but the pattern was the same anyway). I chose a really nice yellowish honey-coloured brown for the project. The thing was that the designer/crocheter from the video uses V-single crochet instead of X-single crochet, which is the one I use, so due to the fact that my stitches have more tension than hers, my project tended to be shorter and I had to adjust aaaaaaall time, making more rows, to prevent the body from being too short for a tiger. At the end, while crocheting the head, I think I grew too creative and altered its shape in a way that it ended up looking more like a cats than a tigers.
Now I have a honey-coloured feline with a cattish head (except for the round ears) and a panther/tiger/leopard body. By its shape it looks exactly like a jaguarundi, but the colour is not the correct either.
I have a mixture of frustration and satisfaction. Frustration because I have a feline I dont know what I should do with (maybe a lioness?) and satisfaction because I managed to crochet a jaguarundi (though in the wrong colour), which was something I wanted to make some time (Im actually crocheting a jaguarundi following my same modified pattern!).
I accept suggestions and hope someone else shares their experiences with crocheting a different animal that it was supposed to be!
