Some of the replies on the other games gave me an idea. We are an international community, so let's learn some vocabulary. I speak English, German and Dutch (and French and Spanish but those were a long time ago in school
And somehow it did not post the game rules.. so I'll try again:

You give us a word in your native language (and what that language is)  ... the next poster guesses, looks up what the word means in English and then gives us the word in their own language, now they add a word of their own and the next poster guesses, gives us the word in their language. If English is your native language, you give us a new word

For example: Buch (German) - book - boek (Dutch) - fiets (Dutch) - bike - vélo (French)
You teach us a new word in your language, so it is not limited to those in the examples (those just happen to be languages I know)

So, as I am German,

Häkelnadel (German)

Holaaa! Well here's kinda funny because I had seen some people get upset when someone calls crochet knitting, but in Spanish we call the two "tejer" the difference is that in knitting we say "tejer a dos agujas" which would say something like two needle knitting

Comments

Soo idk how to add you HJJAHS,but well yeah here in Costa Rica we say a lot just "tejer" and that, but is so curious how is different between countries!  Post time 2024-4-23 21:25
I stand corrected, maybe in South America it happens. Sorry about that!  Post time 2024-4-23 18:55
I've never heard anyone saying "tejer" for crochet. Only "hacer ganchillo" or "crochet" LOL  Post time 2024-4-22 21:53

Hi, in Italian we call the kitting hooks as "ferri" or "aghi", which means respectively "iron" (as in "made of iron") and "needles".
The crochet hook is called "uncinetto", as in "little hook".

For "kerktoren", I believe it should be "torre campanaria", or the tower in a church which holds the bell/highest place, is that right?

My next word for the game is "chiacchierino", which is another type of craft. Up to you to guess which!

Thanks for the game :)

In spanish "chiacchierino" is frivolité and the shuttle is called Lanzadera o Naveta  Details Reply Post time 2024-4-22 02:13

In Austria we don’t say knit and purl but Glatt/vermehrt, that’s more like right and wrong

Komplet FALSCH
Wir sagen Stricken und Häkeln statt Crochet and Knitting  und den Begriff klatt vermehrt gibts gar nicht

Interesting, in German it’s either “links/rechts” or “glatt/kraus”
