I dont speak Russian but I am familiar with the common Russian crochet terms so can get by ok when I find a pattern I like (why are Russian patterns always soooo good?). Anyhoo, I was using Google translate for something not crochet related and saw the option to translate a document and I must say I was really impressed with it. Definitely worth a try if you havent already used it.

It depends on the language, but I find deepl to be much, much better that google translate.
The hours I have wasted "reporting" wrong translations, and nothing ever improved :(

google translation is for the rubbish bin.
this is an automatic translation from a software without sense and understanding
try deepl com, the best translator of the world and for free

I think google translate has improved but depending on which languages you use there is a lot of pointless stuff. Someone learned me about DeepL & since then Im an enthusiastic user  Details Reply Post time 2024-5-6 01:18

I use google translate especially when i have a picture with text I need to translate. There might be mistakes as they are with deeple too but usually I need to understand the general meaning to work on the pattern.

I usually use chat gpt but I tried google for fun last night and I had a good giggle at the result. I think someone who is experienced in patterns can absolutely figure it out, but google was a little too literal in translating and it seems that chat actually can crochet as it knows the stitches and abbreviations.
