Kurosawa is inspired by the many variations of Japanese Sashiko embroidery.

Each of the seven sections is a Mosaic Stitch interpretation of an embroidery design and is worked in indigo blue, white, and gold.
Each section is approximately equal in size. Feel free to adjust as you wish!

Finished Size: 19 inches (47.5 cm) wide by 84 inches (210 cm) long, unblocked
Yarn: Valley Yarns Charlemont Navy Blue #12 (3 skeins), Natural (2 skeins), and Honey Gold (1 skein).

Note: the shawl shown used two full skeins of Navy Blue.
Needles: US #2 (2.75 mm) 1 24-inch circular, or size needed to obtain gauge, and US #3 (3.0 mm) 1 set dpns, or one size larger than gauge needle for I-Cord cast on and bind off.
Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge: 28 stitches and 36 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in Stockinette Stitch, on smaller needles, unblocked. To save time, take time to check gauge.
Both charted and written instructions are provided for each pattern. When working Mosaic Slip Stitch, only one color is used every two rows, with stitches of the opposite color always slipped purlwise. On some wrong side rows, some stitches are knitted and some are purled. This produces a textured pattern on the front.
Each row ends with a sl3 wyif to create a neat I-Cord edge. These stitches are not indicated on the pattern charts or written instructions.
