Anyone have experince designing knitwear and can give advice to someone just starting out with designing themselves?

I would recommend that you make sure other people can understand your pattern, either thru test knits to tech editing.  Also making sure you are using standard symbols and termanology.  There is nothing harder than trying to read and understand a pattern that doesnt use standard termanology.

I think its important to keep your pattern easy-understanding, make sure your instructions and stitch counts are clear and correct.

in terms of pattern designing,

1. always have a terminology page (make sure youre consistent throughout as well)
2. with knitwear you probably want to have a medium, small, and large size (usually by multiplying or dividing the pattern, id recommend watching vids too)
3. if you want to put a chart or graph just use any pixel art maker.  all charts and graphs are pixel art and all pixel art is knitting charts and graphs

It might be a good idea to find knitters that are willing to test knit your pattern.
