spreading rumors??

Hey everyone! I was reading some articles on other sites that have been very discouraging.  Apparently people are reporting that downloads from pindiy have given them viruses? I was wondering if anyone here could actually confirm that, or if those reports were just made by people who are mad at pindiy and trying to get people to stop using this site.
Ive been using pindiy since around March of this year, and have downloaded dozens of patterns without issue.

I am here from 2011 , I didnt use anti virus  programs on the laptop except "free-regular" antivirus programs .... And I never catch that any virus on my devices... Trolls and designer didnt want to share their patterns on the web ofcourse ,but they can not reach to us ... therefore there are lot of "gossip, rumors and lies" on the web sites ....  For scare to people.... Our site protect hard aganist to virus and spy softwares ... Our tech team works hard for that .. Just please dont worry :loveliness:

fairly certain its just classic anti piracy rhetoric. I have an anti virus just in case but frankly everyone has been sooo nice I doubt people are willingly sabotaging the site. this place is like the sweetest lending library Ive ever been a part of and I just joined this week lol

I know exactly what your talking about because I have seen the same things being said. I will tell you Ive downloaded a lot from this site and Ive never had a virus. The only thing that I can think of is that the peoples patterns that are on here most dont have permission and some of them get upset that their patterns are being sold here and so maybe they make up things. What they (the owners of the patterns) dont realize is that yes their patterns are on here yet most without their permission BUT its not like they are being sold to people this site uses their own currency within the website. So thats the only thing thatbi can think of but no Ive never gotten a virus at all and I have well over 100 patterns downloaded.

Those rumours are spread to keep us away from this site.

Away from this I truly hope each i-net user has anti- virus programs installed anyway.

Ive seen rumours about viruses in some craft groups on social networks and its always along the lines - i heard this or heard that about viruses, without any solid proof. Im using this site for a while now and i do scan files after downloads and never ever anything bad happened. To me this is a fantastic resource especially for discontinued
or out of print patterns.

All new downloads are posted in a sort of "waiting room" where users cant download anything. You can only download them after a moderator moves the thread to the relevant area. The moderators check that the download is actually what it says it is, so to get a virus here, a moderator would need to put it up. Doubtful that that would happen, if you ask me.

Personally, I think the risk of getting a virus is pretty low here. Ive rarely seen sites that check their downloads as vigorously as this one.

Thats good to hear. If theres a virus, I hope my computer catches it and blocks it.

Personally I never had any issues, as you were reassured above each file is approved by the moderators before uploading... If you dont have one, of course a good antivirus could take care of any problems :)
