Some confusions about ‘bounty area’

So I’m new to this site and was looking for a pattern. I couldn’t see a download button and all the comments were hidden. I figured out that it was part of a ‘bounty area’. Still dont understand what that means. Do i have to comment to get the pattern? is the pattern not on the site yet? Please help me understand.

A bounty is a pattern or magazine someone is looking for.
So if you are looking for a pattern wich is not yet on the site,you can make a bounty for it.
If you uploada pattern from a bounty you get a reward for it.
The amount of coins you can find in the bounty post.

A member is already asking for it,so you can wait until someone upload the pattern.
You can also make a new bounty for the same pattern,but IT will cost you at least 500 coins to make one.
Have a look in the bountysection how to make a bounty.

Oh that makes sense. So if i wanted the same pattern, one which already has a bounty, how do i go about that? Do i comment asking for the pattern or do i open another bounty(also how do i do that)? Thank you so much!

@Caro1970 thank you for explaining what the bounty is. I was a also confused. Because all comments were hidden I thought the pattern purchase link might be hidden too. I thought I did not have sufficient user level privileges.
