I guess it would depend on what you mean by expensive, and your personal preferences. I have severe carpal tunnel and have tried nearly every hook available. I can crochet longer, and with less pain and numbness, when I use a Clover amour hook (around $7-10 per hook). My priciest hooks ($50-70 per hook) were absolutely not worth the cost- I tried them, didnt work for me, and banished them to a drawer (but they do look nice in photographs!). For me, the Clover amours were one of the best crochet purchases I have ever made.
Even the cheapest hooks can be made more comfortable, or usable, by doing simple hook hacks- like adding a mushy grip, or adding Fimo handles etc |
