So I know this has been asked before. I have found like 6 posts about it searching the forum.
But none of them really answers these questions:
I got in my Notices > Post Notifications that someone replied to my post like this:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx replied your post in the thread XXXXXX6 notices are ignored
So first I am curious why does it say 6 notices are ignored? There were actually 7 total replies to my bounty, so 6+1 makes sense, but why are 6 of them considered "ignored"?
More importantly, while I understand that the replies are made visible only to the moderators for privacy reasons, what are all these people doing replying to my bounty request if not to fill it?
There seems to be no reason to respond to a bounty request with anything other than a fill, because no one can read it.
So what types of posts are these being put there?
Are these people saying "I want too!" or "Maybe I can get it."
Do these users not understand that no one can see what they post?
Are they just trying to inflate their post count?
I dont get it.
