Design of hat was influenced by designer's favorite Star Wars creature to use leftover scraps of yarn. Materials
Worsted yarn in the following colors:
White/off-white (Knit Picks Mighty Stitch Oyster) – 27 to 40 g
Orange/light brown/copper (Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Brass Heather) – about 15 g
Darker brown (Knit Picks Mighty Stitch Bark)– about 10 g
Black (unknown acrylic) – about 10 g Needles:
US sizes 6 (4 mm) and 4 (3.5 mm) circular/double pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain gauge
One stitch marker
Yarn needle I did random striping on the top because I was making the hat out of scraps because I only had 27 g of white. If you don’t want to do that, you will need more white, but a little less of the other colors. Gauge
About 22 stiches and 24 rows in 4 inches by 4 inches.
I normally have to size down a needle or two for patterns, so you might need to size up if you are a tighter knitter. Size
The finished hat is about 20 inches in circumference and 8 inches deep. It fits my 22-inch head snuggly pretty well. Difficulty
There are long floats (up to 13 stitches) and a lot of rows where you have three colors. This might not be the best first colorwork project, but otherwise isn’t that bad.
