The Amabie is a legendary Japanese mermaid or merman, with 3 fins, legs, a beak, long hair and scales
who allegedly emerges from the sea and prophesies either an abundant harvest or an epidemic.
As the folklore goes, the Amabie instructed people to draw an image of it and share it with as many
others as possible in order to stave off disease.
