Question about using Mohair

Hi everyone! I'm new to using mohair and I'm attempting to freehand a mohair overskirt. Wanted to know whether:

1. Can I use mohair as a skirt band or should I use a similar coloured yarn to connect the mohair to? (does it stretch?)

2. What size hook can I use for mohair? I've been seeing these skirts by Sophia Isabella, and I want to create stitches of that size.

Thanks in advance!

Hello :)
1) Mohair is not flexible, on the contrary is quite a delicate yarn! If you want to do a waist band I would suggest to use multiple strands for strenght or work it with another thread... However the best option is as you said: using a similar colour and connect the two. Keep in mind that the waist is also the part that experiece more friction with your movements and it will make mohair pill like crazy.
2) Unfortunately I can't find reference of the skirt you'd like to make, my suggestion is to make small swatches with different hook/needle sizes! Generally speaking as it is a lace yarn/group A, you would use a 2.00 mm for stockinette stitch 3.25 - 3.75 mm for lace.
Happy crafting :)
