Himmel Cardigan by Manmi Choi

The cardigan is worked top-down. First, make two saddles. Pick up stitches from the saddles to knit the back piece. Pick up stitches on the opposite side of the saddles to knit the front pieces. Join the front and back pieces at the underarm to work the body in one piece. Pick up stitches at the armholes to knit the sleeves in the round. Finally, pick up stitches along the front openings of the cardigan to create the button bands.

The cardigan is designed to have approx. 10” / 25cm of positive ease at the bust.

• The grey sample: Worn with approximately 10” / 25 cm positive ease at the bust, sample total length is approximately 20” / 50 cm.
• The blue sample: Worn with approximately 15 3/4” / 40 cm positive ease at the bust, sample total length is approximately 23” / 59 cm.
  

Yarn
Wooldreamers Mota (100% Spanish wool, 100g / 230m)
340 (370, 380, 400, 410) 430 (470, 490, 510, 520) grams or
780 (850, 880, 920, 950) 990 (1080, 1130, 1170, 1200) meters / 850 (930, 960, 1000, 1040) 1080 (1180, 1240, 1280, 1310) yards required.
If you want to make the total length longer than the length suggested in this pattern, please refer to the following. The amount of yarn used for a total length of 60 cm / 23 1/2 “ is as follows:
900 (950, 990, 1040, 1060) 1130 (1220, 1270, 1310, 1360) meters / 980 (1040, 1080, 1140, 1160) 1240 (1340, 1390, 1440, 1490) yards required.
Needles
Large: US 8 (5mm) - 32” / 80 cm circular needles (for the body), 16” / 40 cm circular needles (for
the sleeves)
Small: US 7 (4.5mm) - 32” / 80 cm circular needles (for the hem, cuff and button bands)
Gauge
18 stitches 28 rows / larger needles / pattern stitch / 4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) / after washing.
